Subject: new budget request news-appeal for help update

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you again for the pledges. I am happy to report that over the last week
the amount of pledges grew significantly. Although I have received pledges
exceeding the $30 limit I set for myself, I would like to stick to the limit,
and help from additional faculty members is needed. Please kindly consider
donating according to your financial ability - no amount is small & any amount

While attending earlier this week the UMBC event "Serving Students and
Accelerating Innovation: A Vision for the Future of Higher Education" I
was particularly encouraged by Education Secretary Arne Duncan's call for
transparency and accountability. I trust the senior leadership of the
Department will help us to follow the Secretary's call endorsed by
President Hrabowski.
