Date: Wed, 12 Aug 2015 16:18:23 -0400 Subject: Re: May 6, 2015 MPIA request From: Jacob Kogan To: David Gleason , Jacob Kogan Dear Mr. Gleason, As you may know following receiving your $620.76 records preparation estimate, and the Department's FY15 Budget I made the budget available to the Department. A number of faculty members brought to my attention factual inaccuracies (as they claim) in the budget. Could you please certify that for the best of your knowledge the FY15 budget provided by you is accurate. If this is not the case could you provide me with the accurate version of the Department's FY15 Budget. As provided by the Annotated Code of Maryland, Paragraph 4-206(e) on July 6, 2015 I requested to waive the fees associated with my May 6, 2015 MPIA request. Two hours later you notified me "The Department did not wish to waive the costs." As a result of this Department decision I did appeal to the Department for contributions to cover the $620.76 records preparation estimate, as well as unspecified cost of copying. I provided my colleagues with your July 6, 2015 email "The Department did not wish to waive the costs." Some of my colleagues expressed surprise over this Department decision. They (exactly as I am) are unaware of any discussion of the issue, and any decision made by the Department concerning the fees. Since my July 7, 2015 request to you for the text of the Department decision not to waive the costs remains with no response I am not in a position to address this issue. Due to the inaccuracy of material provided claim faculty members are concerned that after the payment is executed the material provided will be neither complete, nor accurate. It would be great if you could address the both issues to satisfy my colleagues' concerns. This will greatly facilitate my efforts to collect the requested funds. With best regards, Jacob
