The meeting was chaired by the Department Chair Dr. Rostamian.

The Chair clarified that the meeting is a special meeting that will
deal with faculty assignments to various committees. The first order of
business is to vote on Chair's nominations for UPD (Brad Pearcy)
GPD-AM (Biswas), and GPD-STAT (Neerchal).

Bonny Tighe - as a protest i am not going to participate in committees anymore.
Rostamian is trying to convince Mrs. Tighe to participate in committees, and
make her voice heard.

Faculty discussion concerning assignment to and vote for committee membership as
well as staggering membership follows. The tally of the results are as follows:

vote for UPD Brad Pearcy
31 yes, 1 no (out of 33, Gobbert is not voting)

vote for GPD-AM Biswas
24 yes, 3 no (out of 27, Gobbert is not voting)

vote for GPD-STAT Neerchal
15 yes, 13 no (out of 27, Gobbert is not voting)

Gowda: are the committees assignment for the fall?
Rostamian: it would be good to have working committees right now.
Brad, for example, is on sabbatical. He was ready to be nominated,
but is ready to serve from September only. Perhaps the undergraduate
committee can come up with a temporarily chair.

Hoffman is announcing about 50 years UMBC celebration in September 2016,
and asking for help to identify 251 names of former graduates.
Rostamian notices that the celebration will last a year, but it focuses
on a particular weekend in September, and the department has to establish
presence on that weekend.
